About Holistic Outdoor Leadership Program...
Holistic Outdoor Leadership Program is an Erasmus+ opportunity we co-created in June at amazing mountains of Spain. During the experience, we got the chance to challenge ourselves by living in the mountains, in our own tents, cooking with each other, hiking from 1200m to an altitude of 2000m and working on our inner self through adventure and coaching.
A group of participants from Portugal, Germany, Poland, Greece, Cyprus and Spain learned through experience how to facilitate leadership behaviors within a group, helping to form what is known as a “smart group” 🤓 that is a group that:
👉 Works collectively towards a common goal.
👉 Empowers and is enriched by each member of the group.
👉 Understands and manages the interactions and conflicts that occur in the group.
👉 Knows the roles that arise within the group.
All this they learned thanks to two days of a very dynamic social leadership training by activist, trainer and author Nacho García Pedraza (from Cooperativa Garúa)☀️
Then, for the next two days, we experienced something also a very special (and important for the group): a space dedicated to self-knowledge, self-love and self-leadership carried out by facilitators Carlos Sanz and Anastasia Tasoula 💜
And all this finally made sense when it could be put into practice during two days of expedition through the Sierra Northeast of Madrid accompanied by our mountain guide Javier Velasco ⛰ in which the participants, in a self-managed way, had to plan their route to the top, to catch a sunset and a sunrise in different points and face the challenges that make the experience a real adventure 🗺🎒.

This training was so powerful, for my knowledge, my practical skills and my personal development. Having the opportunity to explore the field of leadership from a social perspective and then experience it by myself from a personal perspective, was more than lifechanging. Having also the opportunity to go to an expedition, that I didn't go for long time, and then there practice my skills on leadership made me be a better leader, gave me the knowledge on how to actively participating in a team and how important it is to be there for yourself and a team - when the crisis comes.

HOLP gave me the opportunity to explore both sides of being a trainer and a participant, in the means of leading some reflection groups and preparing a whole "personal development" day for the participants. It is so important, in our days, to realise what it means to be a leader and how crucial is to have more leadership in our own life and decisions - and not being affected by others around us all the time. This is something I realised while experiencing the importance of solidarity - that was there from the moment the project started and I can feel it till now.
